Frequently asked questions

A few useful details about Giftale.

What is Giftale?

Giftale is a gift card wallet that keeps your cards together and available offline. Share cards with people you choose, or keep a shared wallet in sync with other Giftale users.

Where can I get Giftale?

Giftale is an Android app. There is no public Google Play listing yet and no iOS version currently available. This website provides product information and support; it is not a browser version of the wallet.

How do I add and use a gift card?

Add a card by scanning a supported barcode or entering its details manually. Card content is stored locally by default and can be viewed in the app.

Do I need an account, and can I use Giftale offline?

An account is not required for local use. Saved cards remain available offline. Online features such as cloud backup, sync and sharing require an account and a connection.

How do backup and multi-device sync work?

Cloud backup and sync for wallets you own are optional and require an active Premium or trial entitlement plus a connected Google account. Wallet documents are encrypted on your device before upload.

How does sharing work with Giftale?

From Giftale, you can share selected cards or a wallet with another Giftale user. A static share is a snapshot; a live share keeps an eligible wallet available for ongoing sync. The recipient receives the share in the app, and access to cloud files is managed through Google Drive. Card content and wallet files are encrypted on your device and exchanged with Drive, not sent through Giftale servers. Free accounts can receive shares; sending cloud shares and accepting a live share with write access require Premium or an active trial.

How is my data handled, and how do I delete my account?

Local use does not require an account, and card content stays on your device by default. Card content and Giftale wallet files do not pass through Giftale servers; for cloud features, the app encrypts wallet documents on your device and exchanges them directly with Google Drive. Giftale servers process the metadata needed for accounts, authentication, subscriptions, Drive coordination and permissions, sharing and sync. Signed-in users can delete their account from Settings in the app; local card data and exports remain on the device until removed separately.
